Tomato Soup for the Non-Leader’s Soul!

In some ways it seems just like yesterday…In other ways it feels like an eternity. As a young dad to three growing boys, there was always the opportunity of trying out new foods with them in their thirst for determining things that they liked and didn’t like as much.

One of the easiest meals and least expensive for me to risk my lack of cooking prowess was soup. As we worked through the many different kinds, one we landed on was…”Tomato Soup — with nothing in it” as they asked for it. They liked it just the way it was…plain Tomato Soup with nothing in it…well okay — we needed to add milk…water just didn’t make it.

As we grew in that tradition we soon found out that if we added crackers (Ritz of course) it gave us a new venture and we found out that it worked out pretty well. We also found out if we added hot dogs and macaroni (and some sugar)…man did that make a meal.

So how does that story relate to — Non-leaders?

I look at my life and would categorize it as being “blessed”! I would also classify my life as being extremely renaissance. My meaning about that is…within in my life, both personally and professionally…there has been an “act of changing in a positive way: a period during which things are improving” from Merriam-Webster.

Let me explain. For 22 years there was the opportunity to serve in several different capacities within the local church. I worked in Camp and Conference situations. For almost 20 years as a Behavioral Therapist working with ‘People’s Problems’. Then I became Certified by FranklinCovey as a Coach and found myself working with ‘People’s Possibilities’.

Working with 1000’s of individuals there was an appreciation of understanding that most people want to be successful in life.

In my observations of these individuals I noticed that you could break down society into two major groups: Leaders & Non-leaders.

There is so much for and about leaders. But we have asked ourselves, what about the people that don’t want to be leaders?

What about the people who aren’t interested in inspiring others? The people who just want to do what’s best for them and the ones they love? The people who are inspired by great leaders, but aren’t interested in following in their footsteps?

What can they learn from leadership?

It is for those people that we have taken a stand.

We have written a Course, EVERYDAY LEADERSHIP, that is beneficial for those who are in leadership positions and for our Non-leaders.

It’s like having Tomato Soup for the Non-leaders Soul! But with something in it!!
